Sunday Church

One Sunday a pastor told the congregation that the church needed some extra money and asked the people to prayerfully consider giving a little extra in the offering plate. He said that whoever gave the most would be able to pick out three hymns.

After the offering plates were passed, the pastor glanced down and noticed that someone had placed a $1,000 bill in offering. He was so excited that he immediately shared his joy with his congregation and said he'd like to personally thank the person who placed the money in the plate.

A very quiet, elderly and saintly lady all the way in the back shyly raised her hand. The pastor asked her to come to the front. Slowly she made her way to the pastor. He told her how wonderful it was that she gave so much and in thanksgiving asked her to pick out three hymns.

Her eyes brightened as she looked over the congregation, pointed to the three handsomest men in the building and said,

Just thought I'd let you know. Oscar's doing much better as the tail mends. I have to keep him from eating the medication, which is rather annoying. I have to raise my voice at a fish! Don't tell Erin, or she'd roll her eyes. Well, back to my Spanish paper. Christi and Oscar (the less holey)

The Weekend Ends and the Week hits hard

Howdy! This weekend I took it easy, just chillin', a little work, "The Pacifier" with Mom and Erin, and my band concert. Paid for it today with lots of homework to finish and an unexpected extra hour at work. Tonight I worked out at the room downstairs, went to bible study, and just as I was about to do homework, I looked at Oscar.

Oscar has fin rot. Little holes have appeared literally during the course of the day in his back fin. If I can cure it, he'll be fine. If I can't using my limited resources, it will eventually reach his body and kill him. And I can't get to the pet store until Sunday! Someone told me that salt works, but I don't have any since most of the food I eat has enough salt in it already. Means that I've got to wait until Liz opens again in the morning in order to steal a shaker. I did use a little of Erin's non-iodized salt, but I'm not sure if that'll work. I'm worried --- it's our 4 month anniversary tomorrow too :( I'm a bad pet owner, with the constantly fluctuating temperatures, open window, and being a bit sloppy in feeding him. Grrrr......my poor baby Oscar!

The pictures below come from the Pigeon Swap Jessie, Kelsey, and I went to in Jefferson (see sometime near 2/26 for info).

Well, I'm going to go to bed so I can get up in the morning and in the door when cafeteria opens. And also to do some homework.
Love, Christi and Oscar

Tail Rot & Fin Rot

Symptoms: Disintegrating fins that may be reduced to stumps, exposed fin rays, blood on edges of fins, reddened areas at base of fins, skin ulcers with gray or red margins, cloudy eyes.

Tail and fin rot appears to be a bacterial infection of the tail and/or fins and may be caused by generally poor conditions, bully, or fin nipping tankmates. If aquarium conditions are not good an infection can be caused from a simple injury to the fins/tail. Tuberculosis can lead to tail and fin rot. Basically, the tail and/or fins become frayed or lose color. Over time the affected area slowly breaks down.
