Soaked

I wish the rain were lighter, so I'd be able to dance in it instead of running through it in a mad dash to get home before I freeze and/or drown. I caught the first part of the down pour waiting for a bus to take me home from my appointment at the doc's -- no worries, not sick. At least, not bodily sick, the mind's been gone for years. :D Hopefully it'll let up so I can go to work at noon. Not even the strongest umbrella would save me in that kind of rain. We've needed it so badly though, that I cannot truly complain. The grass is so crispy, and Heidi says that in Waunakee it's to grass-fire potential. Oh well. I think I'll take a nap before tackling my book again. It's good, but lengthy and wordy. Sometimes I have to re-read passages in order for it to make sense. I just hope that Roger Hamley will get over himself and marry Molly, the right sister for him. We'll see! Ooh ooh! I've learned how to put pictures INTO the blog!!! More colorful things for you to look at in the future! Love, Christi and Oscar (who is always wet, unlike me!), and the girlies who are awake due to my light being on. oops.

SMILE FOR YOU
Smiling is infectious; you catch it like the flu,
When someone smiled at me today, I started smiling too.
I passed around the corner and someone saw my grin
When he smiled I realized I'd passed it on to him.
I thought about that smile then I realized its worth,
A single smile, just like mine could travel round the earth.
So, if you feel a smile begin, don't leave it undetected
Let's start an epidemic quick, and get the world infected!
Keep the smile going because everyone needs a smile!!! http://www.colinheatherly.com/smile.htm

Fun at the Terrace

Just got back from a short trip to the Memorial Union Terrace which overlooks scenic Lake Mendota. I sat there and read for a couple of hours, leaving at 9:15PM to go and pick up my wallet from work. Ooops, luckily the nice co-workers who were working late due to a picnic were kind to let me in. All my other roommates are also out this evening, so I'm alone tonight with Oscar, Baxter (Taffy's hermit crab) and those crazy hamster girlies, Tomato and Spicoli. I would've loved to stay longer at the Terrace and listen to "The Profits" play another set, but alas I must be up in the morning in order to catch a bus and go to an appointment before another long stint at work. Thankfully I have many hours for work this week will hopefully make up for next week's poor schedule. It's hard for me to keep busy when work's the only thing I have right now....I get bored so easily. I've finished off the pillow making for now, but I do have plenty of stuffing left for a few more should I get the inkling. I'm currently reading lots of books, including one with Jane Austen-esqe language and heroines. Makes me want to talk like them in modern day -- I'd be so much more eloquent, but I fear many wouldn't understand what I was saying! Oh well, perhaps I'll just read in that language for now.

I'm thinking of going home this weekend, although staying until Monday as I had planned may not happen. I did ask for the day off to spend with the family, but I got scheduled anyway. Hopefully this situation can be fixed without loss of hours. Hmmmmm.... a sticky situation which I have to solve, and quickly. What would Elizabeth Bennet or Jane Eyre done in this situation? ...... well, since Elizabeth Bennet didn't work, she probably wouldn't have had such a problem. Although Jane Eyre did work, she only worked for one person as a governess and would've been able to get off by asking her employer Mr. Rochester. Geez...so much for historical fiction helping me out in modern day. Don't worry, I'll make it work. And I'll read these books over and over again, because even though they can't help me solve problems, I can escape them for a few hours. Yay for books!!!

Lots of love, Christi and Oscar (who prefers the TV to watching me read)

Everyone reading/has read Harry Potter but my roommates

YAY! Taffy let me read her copy of Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince! She and Heather aren't going to read it until after tests, finals, and moving. That's three weeks away. I totally figured out who the Prince was by page 3-3. Yeah, that's right. I knew who it was by just a couple of sentences. Didn't know how s/he was connected to the title, but it made sense at the end. Can't believe one of my favoritest characters was killed! And by the person that I'm betting will be good at the way end. That's what I did on my day off. No doing the laundry, dishes, chores, or cleaning the room. No talking to the people who looked at the apartment. Just read. And ate some lunch. And slept a lot. Like 9 hours (which is why it took so long to read the book) plus two naps. Should do laundry at least. And balance my checkbook, alter the budget, and enjoy my new-found internet time (on my own computer!) while I've got the chance. Probably will cruise the Best Buy website for a new computer, since this one keeps crashing. Surprised that it's lasted being on for this long (a couple of hours). Must go before it goes again. Lots of love, Christi and Oscar (he doesn't know the ending of the book either)
