Hello! If you can't tell by the following pictures, I'm at home in Dodgeville....my fourth weekend in a row. This weekend it's the Canoe Fest parade tomorrow. In the meantime, Mom came up for "Cows on the Concourse" - real cows, but only 1 near the actual capitol. The others were on a side street. Lots of dairy products, like milk, cheese, cream puffs, smoothies, and grilled cheese sandwiches were available. I myself had strawberry milk, squeaky fresh cheese curds, and 1/2 of a cream puff. Got lots of dairy info stuff and a balloon - some pictures too that most likely won't be on this page as some are rather embarrassing -- hey, I was dared to do it! Michelle must think Mom and I are nuts....weeeelllll....I guess we are. Hahahahahaha. After that we picked up Matt and Carmen (Michelle had to go help her roommate move out) for some Rocky's pizza and the movie "Mr. and Mrs. Smith". The pizza was good and the movie ok. I kinda wished they would've cut down some of the scenes and added in another with them working as a team to bring down the true bad guys......oh well....at least Brad Pitt was cute. Lately I've been fighting for hours at work, which is rather annoying. Some people have 16-18 hours next week. Me? I have 11. GRRRRRR... I've tried about 5 times to get a second job, so far with no luck (I'm still waiting on one, but I think my application was too late, bummer). Looks like just me, a bowl of ice cream, the tv remote, and my sewing for the summer. Perhaps it'll be easier to save up in the fall...although that's what I said about summer. Hmmmmm..... well, I'm going to go cut up a pair of old pants so I can have shorts to wear for tomorrow. Lots of love, Christi (hey guys, it's cooler here than in our apartment with the broken air conditioner! And Mom's complaining!)

Fired from my job as blogger
If I don't keep up this page, I'll get fired from my job as keeper of this page!!! I dunno who would actually fire me, but I'm sure someone'll volunteer. The last few days have been busy.....except for work. I haven't worked more than 12 hours for the last few weeks which is really driving me nuts. I WANT TO WORK!!!!!!
I've been home now 4 weekends straight. Last weekend started on Thursday, when we picked up Matt from Memorial Union. Yes, he's back and just as annoying as ever. Friday we went to Viroqua for a former co-worker's retirement party. I went to visit with Dan for awhile, visited the High School on their last day (saw Mrs. George but not Mrs. Fortun - she was on the senior class trip). Saw Alissa for a bit. Wandered around downtown. Bought stuff at the Dollar Store but forgot to put in new checks so Mom ended up paying...oops.
Saturday we spent making Grandpa's baked beans and stirring turkey dressing for Sarah's graduation party. Sharon, Matt, and I all got slightly burnt from the steam from stirring the beans. Poor Gloria and Grandpa....now we know what they go through! Anyway, went to the Darlington Public Library where I got a new library card (yay!) so I can check out books in the Southwest Wisconsin Library System and have Mom return them the next time I see her. Hard to believe, but sometimes they have better books than UW Madison! At least, the ones I'm looking for. Sarah's party was a blast, although Sharon and I ended up decorating almost everything. Played table tennis with Kelsey and Jessie -- actually, played isn't the correct word. Tried to get a volley going but actually running after the ball most of the time would be more correct. Then Jessie and I played air hockey (who knew a church would have a pool table, an air hockey table, and basketball games??!!) where I won the first game and she the second. Played with the balloons a bit too. Good cake, good fun, good pictures. Good day.
Sunday...what did we do Sunday? Oh yaah...nothing. This is why. Saturday night, I decided to go with Sarah and her friends to a movie. The movie we wanted to go to ("The Longest Yard" with Adam Sandler and Chris Rock - very funny!) we thought started at 7:40PM, but we didn't make it to Platteville until 8PM. When we got to the movie theater (I rode in a sweet cherry red convertible!), we found out that it had started at 7:20PM, so we decided to go to the 9PM movie. To blow some time we went to Wal-Mart, where I found duckies for the fall house bathroom and Sharon's "Consumer Reports" magazine with all of the picture options...we are talking another system for putting pics online, so you can see more of our silliness. Anyway, we decided ice cream would be good before the movie, but DQ was busy -- we did find Matt and Joe there (they said they were going to go to Madison but somehow wound up in Platteville). Went to McD's instead...yes, Dan I did have a McFlurry. Then off to the movie. Unfortunantly, the row farthest back with enough seats happened (seriously, not planned) to be right next to Matt and Joe. For some strange reason, Matt and I laughed at all of the same silly jokes....hmmmm...am I too much like my brother?? Please God, no. When we got outside, we noticed a good sized storm brewing. Joe drove Matt and me home to Dodgeville, playing some very appropriate "there are lightning strikes everywhere" music...by the time we got home, lightning was on three sides of us. Joe decided to drive home, right through the heart of the storm. Matt stayed on the cell phone with him while I tried to go to sleep. That didn't work well...Daisy was whinning. I tried to take her out, but the wind just about ripped the door off of its hinges. Had to wait until about 2AM for the storm to die down enough to take her out. Slept in until almost noon. By that time we'd missed church in Jefferson (to visit Father Tom) and anything else. Spent the rest of the day lounging about...rather nice, actually.
Monday Matt and I both had to work, so a trip to Madison. I worked out at the SERF with Zondra from work after work. Unfortunantly while I was jumping into the pool for the start of the water aerobics class, I sort of slipped on the plastic siding and bent my toe something good. I went to the doctor today (I promised Zondra so she would promise me not to harm a silly co-worker or quit her job) and he said "don't jam it again, purple and swelling will go down, have fun". Tuesday I was supposed to work a few hours, but after 3 I couldn't stand anymore without serious pain from the toe and the pressure on my back from limping. Spent the rest of the day at home, iceing the toe, talking to Taffy, attemping to cook dinner (spagetti...I can't even boil water! Ok, slight exaggeration), and watching "Lethal Weapon 4" and "Bend It Like Beckham" with Erin and Amanda in our sauna-like living room. Why pay to go to a spa when we could roast alive at home?
This morning Sharon left. We had a nice brunch (pictures to follow when I get home this weekend), and played that annoying IQ game with the pegs (Sarah got it down to 1 peg (good), and somehow both Thomas and I got it to 10 pegs (not good)...hmmmm...). We took Sharon to the airport early, which turned out to be a good thing since she could get on an earlier plane for Chicago (it had been delayed), giving her more time in Chicago to get to her connecting flight to San Fransisco. Mom, Matt, Carmen, and I went to "Star Wars III", the second time for all of us except Carmen. I went to the doctor while Mom took Carmen home. I got dropped off, now I'm here typing you. So much to do before I head home on Saturday, which happens to be "Cows on the Concourse" at the capitol. Sunday is Darlington's Canoe Fest Parade (and I have to return some library books). I think I'll be in Madison the weekend after that, the first weekend here in almost a month. It'll be nice, because hopefully the week will be busy at work so I'll have time off to goof off next weekend. And I'll pay more attention to Oscar, who has been seriously neglected in my absense. Thankfully Taffy's been so good as to feed my little boy, who is probably very warm right now since the room's hot as Hades. I suppose I should go and try to help Taffy in the kitchen. Not that I'll actually be a help 'cause I don't know what I'm doing, but it'll be fun anyway. Lots of love to you all! Christi (and Oscar)
