Why am I the responsible one?

While the others are out bowling (I love bowling), I'm at home washing dishes, making chores, finishing thank yous, and possibly doing laundry. I feel like the "mom". I never get asked to go..and I hate just inviting myself. I feel so rude doing that since sometimes people just wanna be alone. Sometimes I just wanna go out, be with people, get to know everybody. But instead of beating my record of 85 tonight, I'll be doing my laundry and moving furniture. At least I get the weekend off...the first time I'll have two days off in a row for weeks and weeks. What would you do??

Lots of love, Christi and Oscar

A Good Night's Sleep...

...makes this sunshiney day even better! I got to sleep in today because I had a medical appt. I have now been declared phyiscally fit by two docs in the last month, so take that D.O.T.! The appointment took 5 mins 'cause he had to leave. Oh well...I know I'm fine. Better than fine. And the blood test results were really good, so I don't have to switch medication doses-yay!

There's been a car in our alley that has been almost hit about 5 times now because it created a parking space that it is too big to fit into. It currently hangs out a few inches in an already skinny drive. Should I call it in and get it moved before an accident happens? It's a really nice car, but it's obvious that someone doesn't care what happens or they wouldn't have parked it there. It bothers me because people have to drive up right next to our house (our little "front yard", about 2-3 feet of free space in front of the house) in order to get around that stupid car. If it got a ticket it serves the owner right, since they haven't moved it in 3 days.

I've got my computer back! This makes me extremely happy since I can't find my paper copy of the schedule. Now I know my appointments for the day! I can also listen to my massive collection of music. Oh, how I've missed you, Josh Groban!! Oscar's also home, watching me from the bookcase in the living room. He's a much better shade of pink today, after being almost completely white last night. I've got to feed him again (he's a hungry boy!) and replace his water since Taffy spilt most of it on herself last night. While she was moving him over, I cleaned out Molly's room since she moves in today. Unfortunantly there just isn't space in this place yet for overflow from Molly's room to anywhere else. We'll be able to get a bit of the living room set-up and cleaned up when she brings the entertainment center-thingy.

I have no idea when the carpet cleaner is coming supposedly today, but good luck on getting in through the door since it still doesn't unlock from the outside. Mike (Heidi's boyfriend and our computer expert) at least figured out how to get the back door locked and unlocked from the outside, although it took me a few trys to get it locked this morning. Silly Tallard hasn't sent the locksmith, weed-cleaning crew, and we are going to ask for them to replace lightbulbs since they are too high for us to reach. At least now we can call them from our own phone - YAY!!!! No more wasting precious cell phone minutes to call locally. And hopefully I get this credit card online account thing and study abroad acceptance/rejection thing sorted out.

Much to do today. I want to get our room straightened out a little bit more-we moved beds last night, so now there's more room. Still have to find a second metal bed frame and move out Heather's wooden one, which is stacked against the wall right now. At least I got to sleep in my own bed last night - the first time in 3 days. Forget the sheets...I'll put them on when I've got the energy to wrestle with that mattress. The first thing on my wall was my work schedule and part of a shopping list. Soon, hopefully very soon, we'll get this place fixed and fixed up. Must call Tallard now. Lots of love, Christi and Oscar (with him here, this place feels more like home)

Wish I could be surrounded by this.................

Home Crap Home

We moved in two hours later than expected because when we arrived at our house, NOTHING had been cleaned. The floors were dirty, the windows dirty, the walls dirty, the toliets DISGUSTING! The only thing that was clean were the dishes they left in the dishwasher and the non-expired food left in half of the cupboards. In the freezer, which had been unplugged the day before, lay chicken strips, a bad bottle of whiskey, and several freezer packs. We called our apartment owner peoples at 3:01PM and demanded a cleaning crew. The owner arrived a half an hour later, not worried about the holes in the foundation and insulation, the permanent rust stains in both bathrooms, the cracks and chips in the walls of the living room, or the part where the fire-thingys.....smoke detectors(!) may or may not have batteries. The house was cleaned by pros who arrived an hour after our call (really fast reaction time actually) while our moving crew ate a Toppers pizza dinner on the front steps.

More improvements are expected. The carpet cleaning crew is scheduled to come in tomorrow, and we are on a (long) list for painting. The cable and phone guys came today. While the cable/internet was easy to install, the phone guy spent about an hour trying to get the lines working. Let's just say that we hope the next tennant uses Charter because everything is ready for installation now.

Although Heidi's room is just about finished for unpacking and decorating (except for the pile of boxes still in the living room), it's the only one. Taffy and I have to switch our beds around so Taffy's got room for Preston's crate. The living room looks like someone who lives here is a complete slob. There's still our stuff in Molly's room and she's coming tomorrow! The kitchen needs contact paper and stuff before we can unload dishes and stuff. The fridge isn't getting really cold yet (although the freezer's fine). So much to do...and I've been up since 5AM. I still haven't gotten to sleep in my bed (3 days now) and if I'm really good, I'll work it out so our room works and still have space to empty Molly's room before tomorrow. Dunno who is going to let the carpet cleaner in since all of us are gone.

Work was fine--kept myself busy and awake. Our cheese and wine tasting event went smoothly. Even though I wasn't originally supposed to work at it, I was happy to go and talk with Erin while serving, which I haven't been able to do for a long time (talking with Erin, not serving). I looked at my locker today, which is covered in pictures of all the reasons why I can't just tell "Fantastic" to kiss my hinney. One of those reasons is Oscar...my baby that I miss SOOOO much. I guess for me this place won't be home without him and my family calendar on the wall.....hopefully these things will come to pass very soon.

Until then, I've got some boxes to move! Lots of love, Christi

U-Haul = U-be-wastin'-your-time

So here's what happened. We had reserved our truck weeks and weeks ago to pick it up from Platteville last night at about 7PM. My roommates went to pick it up, but the truck never made it. We instead wound up picking up a smaller truck here in Madison, loading EVERYTHING (including things that we were supposed to load today) starting at about 9PM and taking 2 trips to Mt. Horeb where Heidi's aunt and uncle live. They were thankfully not at home, or they would've seen the massive amounts of stuff piled in their two car garage, with over spill into a corner of the kitchen. I cleaned in the apartment while the others took out the second load. Thank goodness Rachelle had done hard-core cleaning while we were moving. We were finished moving stuff by about 4:45AM. I went to bed then, since I'd been up since about 4:45AM on Saturday, worked 11.5 hours with a couple of hours nap in the afternoon. Taffy was worse off because she didn't take a nap. I crashed at 5AM while Heidi and Taffy cleaned.

All were up at 9:30AM and calling U-Haul National to find a truck since the one we borrowed had to be back to the store by 5AM Sunday. My goodness...that was this morning! We finally found a truck in Beloit that we could keep until Tuesday. For all of our troubles, we got weekday rates on the first truck and free mileage on the second (which is really good because Beloit is 4 miles away) and we are going to try to get some gas $$ back for the second truck since we weren't supposed to drive that far. The truck was loaded at 5PM, parked at John A's neighborhood by 7:30 PM, and now we are chillin' at the Concourse Hotel on the square. I'll be sleeping on the floor since I couldn't find another place. I'll have to walk to work (about 25 mins) tomorrow morning since the buses don't run that early. Hahahaha. Hopefully I'll get more than 4 hours of sleep tonight. That would be a dream come true. Another one would be that our house would be cleaned by the former tennants. That one probably not come true. Oh well.

Must be to work at 5:30AM tomorrow. Must help boys move after that. Then we move. Then we clean. Heidi says I must tell you this "I'm so excited to be almost done." Must finish writing blog. Must finish cleaning....I mean, talking to Linda about cleaning. Ok, must go because I'm no longer making sense. At least I'm no longer smelly! One more move left. Lots of love, Christi (and tomorrow, Oscar too)

P.S. THANK YOU MIKE'S PARENTS, HEATHER, RACHELLE, MOM, AND MY AWESOME ROOMMATES HEIDI AND TAFFY FOR HELPING ME MOVE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! (and not killing me for being so cranky in the process!!) AND THANK YOU TO HEIDI'S AUNT AND UNCLE FOR LETTING ME PUT LOTS AND LOTS OF STUFF INTO THEIR GARAGE!
