Hello everyone!
Things are finally getting set for fall. I've got two jobs with an interview for a third. I got my position in AmeriCorps and this fall will be a volunteer coordinator and tutor for Madison's Schools of Hope project, which is helping underprivledged children with their reading and math skills. I don't know exactly where I'll be placed, but I do look forward to working with the kids and helping to make their future a little bit brighter.
My other job will be as a security guard/usher/ticket taker at UW home football games. Pay isn't great, but at least I'll get to see (most of) the game for free!!
The interview is at the new SuperTarget in Fitchburg. A bit of a drive, but the extra income will really help.
I'm also signing a lease on a studio about two blocks from Matt's apartment. Yes, I'll have to do the dishes in a tub in the bathroom since there' s no kitchen sink, but it fits the budget for now and it allows Ollie the fish to have his very own kitty :)
Yesterday after work I got to take Laura from St. Louis on a drive-by tour of the campus. It was a lot of fun getting to hang out with her and I hope to do it again soon!!!!!!
Well, I've got work until midnight tonight and again at 5am tomorrow morning (I know, crummy, but I did volunteer) so I should get going on my day. Hugs, Christi

George (II) the Car
Matt's car is currently in the shop as I wait for it to get the transmission fluid flushed and the oil to be changed. It is nice that Don's is only two doors down and they let me park overnight so I didn't have to worry about going all the way over to Matt's to get it this morning. I got a little freaked out when I started the car last night and the battery and oil lights were on. I shut it off and started it again with no problems. Better safe than sorry...especially if Matt's driving down alone on Sunday.
Other than that, I'm really excited that my friend Laura from St. Louis is moving to Madison. We lived in Ros Geal (Ireland) together and it'll be nice to have her back in the same town again. I miss Ireland and my friends. I won't be able to to go to Mira's wedding in Germany thanks to no money and upcoming medical bills due to that surgery. I'm bummed about this because I was really looking forward to it. Oh well, that's life. Now I must find a great wedding present to send in my place. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!!
Well, must get going. I've got my internship today so lots to do!!
Lots of love, Christi and Ollie

Gotta Be Something More
Life's busy. I've got to find an apartment, a job, and transportation from one to the other in just about 2 weeks. I wish I could find a loan and buy a house, because the payments are probably going to be pretty close to what I'm going to pay in rent. If I had a cosigner, I'd probably get a better deal... ah, to put down roots for longer than a year, and a guaranteed kitchen sink to boot (because right now the best apartment for me rent-wise has no kitchen available...dorm food cooking only). I must admit that I had started looking on fsbomadison.com just to see what they had. I actually did find a couple I could probably go for. I'd find a roommate to help out with the expenses and Rollie (catering) could help with any repairs I may have as home-improvements is his "other job" and he enjoys working with his hands. Zondra's husband is a Realtor so he could probably find me exactly what I need. Yep, I've been spending waaaaaaay too much time thinking about this.
My friend Zondra's last day was today. Starting next Monday she'll be working at Union South. While I'm happy for her, a promotion and set hours, I'm still going to miss our conversations. I will have to keep in touch often.
Other than that, not much happening. Matt's seeing someone (I think)...don't quote me on that. No matter what, he's much happier now that earlier this month. Mom's busy busy busy at work trying to keep everyone happy. Today she actually left the office on time and for that I'm incredibly happy. She works too much. Lately we've been getting together on Saturdays going to movies and walking the Square, which I enjoy immensely and look forward to.
I got to go out with my friends last Thursday night and I had a great time! Just the silliness I've really been needing. My friend Laura from St. Louis that I met in Ireland is moving to Madison this week to start her graduate studies in Chemistry. Wish she'd been here earlier, for I knew many people who could've used her tutoring services. She's the only person I know who actually likes organic chemistry!! Anyway, things to look forward to :)
Well, must get some sleep sometime. Lots of love, Christi and Ollie
