Ok, in response to my post a few days ago "Please find me Somebody to Love...", I am not desperate to love someone, but I'm getting a bit desperate for more workers. Today is a perfect case. My boss, who almost never calls people in early....called me at 9AM. I could've worked 12 hours today. Fortunantly I had interview with another senator (Senator Jauch - Democrat, Northern Wisconsin) so I could only work 10 hours. I think the interview went well...they sound really excited to be able to interview anyone for an intern position (apparently they haven't had one in awhile) and they had a few other interviews yesterday and today. The people sound really great to work with - a great workplace dynamic. The Senator's big on education, increased spending and more equal spending on schools. Gotta be a fan of that. Sounds like we'd mesh well. Not sure how it's going to go so keep your fingers crossed.
Other than that, life's going well. I've got to get some homework done sometime soon. I really want to start researching my paper but haven't had enough time to really dig into it. I'm getting really excited about it - I think it could be an amazing topic to really explore. I'm going to do something about the patriarchy of the civil rights movement and how women were not treated and openly acknowledged as equals even though they did a ton of work in organizing and in personal everyday nonviolent acts that demonstrated to many how unequal "seperate but equal" really was. There are so many great women organizers that we don't learn about until college because the history of the civil rights movement was written by guys. It's also interesting to note how the church influenced the gender roles of men and women, again with patriarchy kind of coming into play as the male ministers did a lot of decision-making and got a lot of the media attention too.
I hope that this made sense. I'm so tired. Think I'm going to check my e-mail and go to bed. Lots of love, Christi and Ollie

RIP dear sweet Preston

I logged onto facebook and got a message from Taffy. Since I don't know how to say it, I'm just going to copy what she said. Here it goes:
Christi, just thought I would let you know: Preston passed away on Friday of last week. Turns out he had cancer really bad, and nobody ever picked up on it b/c he was SOOO young. It was spread all around his organs.
I have a picture of him laying on the kitchen floor on my wall when he first came home. It's so hard to believe - he was full of life up until the day he left us. No pain whatsoever. He'd passed his first obediance test and was on his way to becoming a service dog. I pictured walking around somewhere someday and seeing him working with his new owner. And now he's gone.
I missed you when you left home, dear sweet puppy. Now I miss you foreve
r. Thank you so much, Preston, for touching all of the lives you did and for making coming home after a long day's work so sweet. Knowing I was coming home to a happy you made the end of the day one of the happiest parts of my day. Now you are in the heaven's biggest doggie park right now, able to play with all of the shoes and cardboard you could ever imagine.Hugs and lots of love, Christi and Ollie
