I didn't get to go with the girls last night to the Harry Potter book party for the 6th book's grand release. Instead, I slept. While they had problems with drunken idiots, I was safely tucked in bed. When they were safely tucked in bed this morning, I was making sandwiches, cracker baskets, and other odd jobs. Thankfully I was out an hour early 'cause they ran out of things for me to do. I got a nap before going out with Matt and Moogie for lunch (w/ cartoons!) and some grocery shopping (yay, fresh fruits and veggies). It didn't make up for the Farmer's Market nor Maxwell Street Days, but then again I didn't spend lots of money that I don't have on stuff I don't need. Went back into work at 2:30PM, got to work inside (YAY!!) at a little dinner at Chad. Girl at front desk was reading Harry Potter, but couldn't tell me much because she was only 100 pages in. Event went well and we got out an hour early. Only 10 hours out of 12 scheduled. Sounds good to me. No roommates tonight (must've gone out), but probably for the best. I don't want any plot spoilers. I'll be sitting down with the Potter man hopefully next weekend when one of my roommates finishes their copy. Yes, I will probably end up buying a copy myself, but probably not until it hits paperback. I can't find the other copies I own right now anyway. It would probably help if I cleaned my room at home like I always plan to when I go home. Baby steps, I must take baby steps in order to get that mammoth job done. First baby setp - go home and open bedroom door. Sounds easier than it is. Why do I own so much junk?? Probably because everytime I want to get rid of it it's in the middle of winter when I can't garage sale the stuff. Must work on that too...get some ambition before the first snow fall. I wish it would snow now. Too hot. Must drink Gatorade when sitting still because I'm losing so many fluids. sigh....will want hot in winter---around January when I have to shovel the driveway.

326 - AND I'M AN AUNT!
This is my 326 post! Yes, that's nuts. Many people can't get beyond 50, and here I am going strong towards 500 (by then I'll probably have too much stuff on this page and will have to make a new one).
Today was also nuts. I got off work this morning @ 1:10AM, 40 minutes late. Went home (thankfully Agnes gave me a ride home :) ) and to bed by 1:30AM. I thought I'd not wake up my roommates, so I tried to get some sleep on the couch in the living room. Unfortunantly Tomato and Spicoli were wide awake and running in the squeaky wheel. Got up at 5AM and to work from 6:15AM-2PM. I was supposed to be out by 1:30PM, but 5 mins before I was going to leave I accidentally broke about 40 bread and butter plates, requiring sweeping and boxing of broken glass. Had to go to UHS before home, so by the time I got here it was after 2:30PM. Took shower and nap. I had wanted to go to the bookstore with the girls tonight to pick up Harry Potter, but I think I'll sleep instead. Want to be up and rested for tomorrow - 12 hours of work. Next week is better, with hours only at 33 over 4 days, giving me 3 days off!! Hehehehe...think I'll take those days and run away...far far away from broken glass and tux shirts. At least the guests from last night's bar were a true treat to serve. They were having a dance of sorts, complete with Mardi Gras beads. Everyone was just have a good time, which made it easier to have fun and enjoy. Agnes didn't wear any beads, so one guest decided to take off all of his and gave them to her. Another guest kept trying to get us to dance. A third guest must've had over 25 strands of beads, which she proudly told us she'd earned each and every one (hmmm...I think I'll just buy some at the dollar store!).
Oh yeah, and I'm an aunt. No worries, not Matt or Ben. I adopted 2 dwarf hamsters, which I then gave to Heather since she wanted them so badly. The whole process took about an hour at the shelter, which gave Heather, Taffy, and I a couple of hours yesterday to play with them. Tommi (aka Tomato) was put in the little hamster ball to roll around on the floor. She kept running into things. Much funnier than the tv. Heather's working on getting them handled and used to people. Their mom, Taco, was extremely protective. So much so that the worker trying to help us got bit. Oh well. Now I shouldn't go back to the shelter or I'll probably come home with one of the cute pitbull puppies or a beautiful cat. But now I'm an aunt to two adorable rodents...even cuter when asleep (them sleeping, not me).
Other than that, payday was today but all money went straight out in bills. At least if I ever get sad about not having anything new, I can always sit in the apartment in my pretty black dress with a bowl of ice cream, a movie, and something to sew. And when Taffy's not around, I'm allowed to watch Hilary Duff (even though I don't like her or her singing voice). Taffy found out my little secret tonight when they came back to pick up some more stuff for the wait. I was 3 mins from the end, but now I'll hear about it for at least 3 days. Well, not tomorrow, 'cause I'm at work. But the next three days.
Oh well. Lots of love, Christi and Oscar, et al

just a note
I'm still online! Amazing is not enough to describe it. Wonder why it's working NOW. Could it be because I'm surfing the net looking at new computers? Hahahaha.....must sleep lots now, to make up for the few hours I'll get in the next few days. Love lots, Christi and Oscar
Just 'cause I'm online doesn't mean I'm not looking for a new computer
Yes! online now for the 2nd day in a row! That doesn't mean that I'm online 24/7 but it's nice to know that sometimes I can be connected to the net. Sometimes when I try to connect the computer crashes though. Went to Best Buy today to look at computers. The one that fits me best is a Gateway notebook, the one they didn't have! It's available online, but first I must find funding. That'll be the kicker, since I've got 2 months of rent due by August 1st and we still haven't really settled on what rent's going to be in our little red house. Sigh. Here's what I'm dreaming of. file:///E:/A%20Rush%20of%20Blood%20to%20the%20Head/
If anyone has any ideas for paying for this computer before I go the way of the dinosaurs, please e-mail suggestions. Until then I'll live with sketchy internet, constant crashing, no DVD playing capabilities, and a USB key that can't live up to expectations because the USB ports on this computer are really old in computer years. Sigh. Other than that, Heather's working on adopting hamsters. It's a rather interesting situation 'cause she's trying to get them through the Humane Society (2 for $5!) but they're making her jump through hoops in order get them. We hope to have everything finalized by tomorrow so she can bring home two dwarf hamsters to be known as Spicoli (sphi-ko-lee) and Tomato. The mom's name is Taco, so her 6 babies are known as Lettuce, Tomato, Cheese, Guacamole, Sour Cream, and Black Olives. Don't believe me?? Check out http://giveshelter.org/Adoption/animal_search_results.asp?anitype=5&page=4
They also have adorable dogs. My favorite's Scout, a female black lab who, like me, has epilepsy. She currently isn't available for adoption until they get her attacks under control. I'd love to adopt Scout and take care of her, but I'm afraid her meds and my meds would be the end of me. That and it would be hard to find someone to take care of her while I'm gone to Europe. Sigh...I pray that she finds a good home where people can love and take care of her the way she deserves. Just like the rest of them. Mom has forbidden me from going to the Humane Society in an attempt to keep me away from adopting animals. After cleaning Oscar's tank (a monthly chore I don't enjoy), I realize that pets are fantastic, but take lots of time, money, and responsibility. Especially money, because when we went to the pet store, I totally wanted to buy Oscar a new tank with lots of cool stuff to go into it....not that Oscar needs a bigger tank 'cause his is huge by beta standards. Guess he'll just have to live with daily feedings, constant attention, a mirror, and bottled water. Lol. Somedays I envy the life of a fish....then again, swiming in ammonia doesn't sound like fun.
Must get going. Lots of things to copy with my new USB key!! Love, Christi and Oscar (at home in his newly cleaned pink fish bowl)

For the moment
I'm online for a short time tonight ON MY OWN COMPUTER!!!! Yes, the computer has been so nice as to allow me online for a few precious moments so I can quickly post pics, research songs, and attach important info into e-mails for mass mailing so if/when the computer does finally stop working, I've got the most important of the stuff out in cyberspace for all computers to access. Unfortunantly each calendar page is at least 2MB of info - lots of stuff for one e-mail so I'm individually e-mailing each page. Problems in that it takes awhile to attach each too. Two e-mail addresses working overtime to get the stuff sent before the computer once again decides that the internet is evil and ends my surfing pleasures. The following pictures are from Sharon's farewell brunch (6/8), Cows on the Concourse (6/11), and Feast with the Beasts (6/18). Well, back to the e-mail attaching! Oh, got a beautiful black long formal gown - originally $150, I paid $13. And some groceries. And forgot my checkbook on the counter of the clothing store so that I had to run all the way back to get it. And had my first meal at IHOP (International House of Pancakes)....real eggs! The strawberry syurp on the table smelled like alcohol though. Glad I didn't try it!!

Hope your day is sunny side up!
Today for breakfast we had sunny egg bake, ham, potatoes o'brien, some sort of beef bacon-y stuff, bagels with cream cheese, cherry kuchen, and bevs. Well, the people who evaluate and rank campus housing places all over did. Me, I got a blueberry bagel with strawberry cream cheese and strawberries sliced on top. Yummy yummy, but I still got hungry during the breakfast. Was in at 6 and out at 10. Two extra people were called in, so they are going to wash the dishes and clean the chafing dishes while I stick around here and sleep. I've got tonight, tomorrow, and Thursday morning free. Otherwise I'm working. Fun, but not as much as some other stuff I'd rather be doing. Oh well, life must go on. We might go out today to the Humane Society and some grocery shopping after they get back. In the meantime, I think my pillow's calling me.

Raindrops on Roses and Whiskers (or in Buddy's case, claws) on kittens
only the dog didn't bite, and the bee didn't sting, so my favorite things really aren't helping. The bank statement online and the checking account register are wrong and I can't figure out how to make them right again. This is causing major problems as I can't figure out why sometimes my account is anywhere from $5-$10 off in either direction. It doesn't help that my computer keeps crashing. It's getting so bad I fear I'll lose everything and I'll have to buy another one. *Sigh* Despite "Consumer Reports" faith in Dell, I and those around me have lost the trust once placed in Dell's products and customer services. I don't know what other kind of computer to get though either. Perhaps I'll spend some time in the library in the next few days in order to better research the make and model of what works for me. Unfortunantly, I can already predict the close to $2000 price tag. *sigh* who cares about money trees...I want a computer tree complete with free printer cartridges, easy-to-read manuals, and helpful customer service people who never put you on hold. Until then, I guess I'm learning a new language - computer jargon.
This weekend I had planned on going to the Trick Pony concert in Darlington, but after Alissa cancelled on me, I decided to just head home. I spent the weekend watching movies such as the Bridget Jones duo and Against the Ropes with Meg Ryan. Also some classics in there like "Adam's Rib" with Spencer Tracey and Katherine Hepburn and "An American in Paris" which I ended up fast-forwarding through the 20+ mins of dancing. I also worked on the family calendar (oh crud, I hope I don't lose that with that silly computer!!) and slept. A lot. Hopefully enough to cover the completely crazy week I've got. I did it to myself, though. I switched shifts to help one girl out, but I had already picked up another shift. So my Thursday I work from 5PM until 12:30AM for the girl, then 6:15AM-1:30PM for an upstairs free shift and then catering (which was supposed to start at 11am, but the other girl I'm working with on that shift wanted to start earlier). Then on Saturday I'm working for yet another girl in RHC from 6-10AM. I'm back in at 2:30-10:30pm for yet ANOTHER girl (4 completely different people). Then I'll be back in for work on Sunday morning @ 6:15am for another open shift. Yes, I did it to myself. I'm a great friend, worker, and idiot. What can I say?? I'm good at being nice to everyone except myself. Oh well, at least I'll be able to afford rent - yay!
Love, Christi and Oscar (who was well taken care of by Miss Taffy in my absence) :D
