Life continues to go well. I really like my job, although trying to get tutors placed in classrooms feels like I'm pulling teeth sometimes. Who knew it would be so hard to get schedules to line up??!! I have been lucky enough to get two girls started and re-place a volunteer from last year (and the year before that too). I've still got several more volunteers waiting for placement so hopefully now that evaluations and practicum students have been taken care of we can get down to getting some volunteers in the classrooms. Otherwise I feel like I'm not doing much of anything and not being helpful at all. I did get 9 years of volunteer files semi-organized and put into binders though!
I'm waiting on word from the State office before I can start my third job as club leader in Madison's afterschool program MSCR. I'd be going to at a different school (than my two) 3 days a week with three different clubs, an arts-and-crafts club, a simple-science club, and a history/time traveling club. I'm excited to start and get preparing my first clubs as they start NEXT week, but we'll see. The State Office has to approve this job because it happens to be with one of our partners, the Madison Metropolitan School District, and they are worried about a conflict of interest and about us not getting all of our service hours in by the end of the year. It shouldn't really be a problem because as of right now if we kept going the way we are we would go over without trying. The first person was "unofficially" given the green light so hopefully I will be too very soon.
I've also signed up for more Per Mar Security work this winter, at Men's Basketball games (women's games tended to be during the week which won't work with my MSCR job) and Men's and Women's hockey games, all down at the Kohl Center. I'm now waiting to see exactly which I'll be working, but since it is mostly Friday nights, Saturday nights, and Sundays I'll still be able to keep more free time available than another type of job. I'll also get to see games for free and still make a little money.
Lily's doing really well. She's settled in now and rarely goes under the couch or bed. Instead, she chills in the bathtub or window and sleeps on the bed and couch often. We've got a kind of routine down and it seems to work well for us. I have to cut her nails soon or I'll go crazy. She accidentally wakes me up at night because she scratches me and doesn't know it. She makes me so happy that I don't mind it....too much. I know she hates it when I leave (to go make money to buy kitty food) but that makes it that much nicer to come home and have her excited to see me.
In the family run down - Mom's had troubles at work (with accidental file-shipping) but it sounds like they are going to be resolved. She's getting ever closer to the end of this class and the end of her work on her Masters. Perhaps she should get to be Master Mom?? Moogie, MBA (like Doogie Hower, PhD)???
Matt's superbusy with work. Mom thinks they are trying to play catch-up. Sometimes he goes in at 8AM, comes home for dinner around 5ishPM and then heads back in 6-9PM. Lately it is getting better but I can tell he's stressed. Hopefully he will get to do something fun with Moogie and me soon.
Kathy is expecting her baby sometime between the 12th and 18th of October. We are all excited to meet the newest of the Smith clan!
Grandpa and Gloria are well again...I think. They have been getting sick quite often lately so we haven't been able to really see them. Mom visits on occasion and I think of them often.
Sarah is going to school at Southwest Tech in Fennimore and she works a Friday job here in Madison so we hope to be able to chill sometime soon.
Otherwise, I haven't heard too much from anyone else.
